ING Employee Benefits provides an integrated approach to short-term and long-term disability. Our Short-Term Disability (STD) coverage provides weekly payments to an employee who is disabled, as defined in the certificate, and unable to work for a period of weeks because of sickness or accidental injury. We include standard and optional features to provide partial replacement of the claimant's earnings. If the disability extends long-term, we provide seamless transition and integrated care management services through our Long-Term Disability (LTD) program. LTD provides monthly income benefits to an employee who is totally disabled, as defined in the certificate due to sickness or accidental injury and is initially unable to perform the essential duties of his or her occupation. After a period of time, benefits are payable if the employee is totally disabled from all occupations. We provide comprehensive return-to-work services, featuring rehabilitation counseling and re-employment services. Effective care management leads to successful cost control.
